Are you sure it is still possible to go birding on Serangan Island? I have just been to Bali and was told that access is no longer possible for the public due to some recent disputes and demonstrations because of a big land reclamation project in Benoa Bay. It sounded as this was a very delicate topic. That would also explain why taking photos had been an issue before already. I did not try to go there myself, because I did not want to get into trouble.
